Quickly mark the center of the workpiece with the Precision Machine™ Center Marker. It is often necessary to know the exact center point on the base of a bowl, particularly when the bowl will be put on a vacuum chuck and the bottom turned to final shape, sanded and finished. If the exact center is marked, the tailstock can be moved up and the cone center put in the indented center point on the base. This will center the bowl accurately.
The center marker collar is designed to fit inside the threads on a chuck or faceplate. The center point slides through the collar and will contact the base of the bowl. When the center point is tapped, the cone point will leave a small indentation marking the true center of the base. This will allow the precise centering of the bowl on a vacuum chuck.
